Lincoln park real estate
Lincoln Park is a little slice of heaven and is considered to be one of the most coveted neighborhoods in which to live. One of the 77 neighborhoods it sits just north of downtown Chicago and is bordered on the east by Lake Michigan, on the north by Lakeview (my neighborhood!), on the west by Logan Square, and on the south by Near North. In Lincoln Park you’ll find more green space than most other Chicago neighborhoods, due in part to both the 1,208 acre Lincoln Park as well as the Lakefront Trail which has green space on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. Lincoln Park is known for the famous Lincoln Park Zoo, upscale shops including the Clybourn Corridor retail district, luxury housing, an enormous Whole Foods, and some of the best restaurants in Chicago.
THE NEIGHBORS
A mix of urban professionals, recent college graduates and young families.
SCHOOLS
Due to the many families in the area there are quite a few schools in Lincoln Park including Francis W. Parker School, DePaul University, The Latin School and St. Clement School among others.
ACTIVITIES
Lincoln Park also boasts many family friendly activities including a driving range, mini golf, The Lincoln Park Zoo and Farm-in-the-Zoo, The Lincoln Park Conservatory, sailing lessons, a boat harbor, beaches, many parks and playgrounds including my favorite park in the city Oz Park, and one of the city’s best dog parks, Wiggly Field.
HOUSING
You’ll find a mix of single family homes, row houses, duplexes, 3 flats, and small courtyard buildings. While there are some mid and high rise buildings, there aren’t nearly as many as in the nearby Gold Coast and Streetervile areas. All of this wonderfulness comes with a price tag though as housing prices are higher in Lincoln Park than in most other parts of the city.
The median sales price for homes in Lincoln Park for Mar 13 to May 13 was $398,000. It is 76.89% higher than the median sales price for Chicago IL which is $225,000. The average price per square foot for homes in Lincoln Park was $508 in 2nd quarter of 2013, which is 147.80% higher than the average price per square foot for homes in Chicago.
NEAREST SUBWAYS
Nearest Elevated Trains: Red and Brown/Purple lines
Transportation options are plentiful in Lincoln Park including city buses, and getting downtown, which is only 2.5 miles away, is a breeze (approximately 15 minutes by car depending on traffic). You can also hop right on the Lakefront Trail and bike to downtown in approximately 25 minutes along some of the most beautiful scenery in the country or take the Red or Brown/Purple elevated trains.
